Two held over stab murder outside Q Club

TWO men were today being questioned by murder squad detectives over the stabbing of a man outside a Birmingham nightclub.

The pair, aged 28 and 29, were arrested in a police swoop yesterday on suspicion of the murder of Mathew Sutherland,

Mr Sutherland, aged 29, who lived in the city, was fatally wounded when a row exploded into violence outside the city’s Q Club in Corporation Street early on Sunday, August 17.

The victim, who was also known as Ducky, suffered multiple stab wounds in the attack moments after leaving the club.

Desperate friends bundled Mr Sutherland into their car and drove him to Sandwell General Hospital but doctors were unable to save him. It is understood the stabbing, in the street close to the club’s entrance, was captured on CCTV.

Police stressed Mr Sutherland’s murder was not gang-related.
