Birmingham man charged with manslaughter
A BIRMINGHAM man was due in court today charged with manslaughter after a construction worker was punched in the street.
Simon Bampton, aged 28, from Southampton, was allegedly assaulted in Marsh Street, Bristol, at 2.30am on August 19.He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary, where he died.
Mohammed Waqar, 21, was charged with manslaughter late yesterday and was appearing before Bristol Magistrates today.
Two other men, aged 21 and 25, also from Birmingham, were released by Avon and Somerset Police without charge.
