Custody for gun suspect
A MAN has appeared in court charged in connection with a tower block shooting in Birmingham that left a man fighting for life.
Robert Hoskins was charged with the attempted murder of Delroy McKintosh, who was hit in the stomach in Newtown on May 16.
The 24-year-old was also charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Hoskins, of Wembley, north London, was arrested at a house in Berry Close, Handsworth on Wednesday.
During the intelligence-led swoop, officers found a loaded 9mm pistol and a stun gun. The pistol has now been sent away for analysis.
It was the third loaded pistol found in Birmingham since July.
Hoskins, who also goes under the name Michael McLean, spoke only to give his name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing before Birmingham Magistrates yesterday.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court next Thursday.
A passer-by found Mr McKintosh lying in the foyer of Fallows House, in Ruddington Way, in Newtown.
Mr McKintosh, aged 28, was rushed into emergency surgery but has since made a full recovery and been released from hospital.
Two months earlier, Nehemiah Bryce was discovered fatally wounded in an alleyway off New Croft, Newtown, less than a mile from Fallows House. Last month Dimitri Foskin, aged 24, was found with a fatal gunshot wound in Hockley Close, Newtown.
