Four Birmingham Mail readers to quiz Gordon Brown

FOUR Birmingham Mail readers will come face-to-face with the Prime Minister in a once-in-life-time opportunity to have their say on the future of Britain.

A student nurse,a schoolboy, a Muslim pensioner and a university worker are the four who have been chosen to meet Gordon Brown when he chairs his first Cabinet meeting outside Downing Street in Birmingham on Monday.

Nazar Hussain, aged 66, of Cavendish Road, Rotton Park, said he wants schools to educate children about the true meaning of Islam and prevent religious extremism “before someone else turns them into suicide bombers”.

Isabel Whittaker, aged, 36, a student nurse, of Mary Vale Road, Bournville, said: “I want to ask him if he can ensure paramedics have equipment and training to tackle gun and stab wounds.”

Katharine Fuller, aged 25, of Bridge Street, Walsall, who works at Birmingham City University, said: “If I were PM I would begin initiatives with big corporations, as they are the ones with the money, not the Government.

Tom Wright, aged 15, of Wentworth Way, Harborne, thinks the Government could be doing more to help youngsters hoping to enter higher education.

The four readers will be among invited guests who have the chance to quiz the 23 Cabinet Ministers.
