St Chad's Church gets makeover thanks to Bosch Lawn and Garden competition winner

A BIRMINGHAM church green is in line for a spruce up thanks to a Birmingham Mail reader.

Alison Thompson was selected as the winner of the Mail and Bosch Lawn and Garden competition for a community clean-up.

She nominated St Chads Church, in New Road, Rubery, which will now get a full spring clean including mowing, cutting, weeding and trimming.

Church-goer Alison said: “The green at the front of the church was getting really overgrown and looking untidy.

“As it is in the centre of Rubery, it wasn’t really selling the area very well.

“We’ve just had work done inside the church, so it seemed fitting to try to get the outside done too.”

For her own part, Alison is also set to pick up £200 worth of Bosch Tools.

“I like to think I’m good in the garden, but I’m no Percy Thrower,” she added.

“I can keep the garden tidy, but that’s about all.”
