Guillemots to play at Gigbeth festival

A BIRMINGHAM music festival is set to hit the high notes with its biggest ever line-up.
Up to 20,000 people are expected to pack out venues including the Custard Factory and an outdoor stage at Millennium Point for the Gigbeth festival in November.
Artists including Birmingham band the Guillemots, breakbeat duo Stanton Warriors and hip hop legends the Sugarhill Gang are set to take centre stage at the two-day event, which starts on November 7.
Music venues along Digbeth High Street will play host to leading names from the world of Indie, dance and jazz in a bid to appeal to all music tastes.
Appearing alongside the Sugarhill Gang, best-known for their 1979 hit Rapper’s Delight, will be indie group the Young Knives and Miles and Erica Hunt, formerly of Stourbridge band the Wonderstuff.
Organiser Clare Edwards, who recently won the title of UK Young Music Entrepreneur of the Year 2008, said she was excited to have confirmed the Guillemots and the Sugarhill Gang.
She said: “These two acts are representative of the artists we have at this years Gigbeth, pioneers and current genre leaders from two very different musical fields.
“It is great to see Birmingham stars like the Guillemots supporting their city by headlining for Gigbeth.”
Previous Gigbeth headliners include acts such as Dirty Pretty Things, The Raconteurs and Nizlopi.
Tickets for Friday will be £15 for Friday, £18 for Saturday, or £25 for a weekend pass.
