Russell Brand back for Brum show
CONTROVERSIAL comic Russell Brand is returning to stand-up comedy with a UK tour that includes a date at Birmingham’s NIA Academy on January 23 next year.
Funnyman Brand had taken a break from stand-up following his Only Joking tour to pursue his interest in writing and acting. During the last 18 months he has appeared in the movies Forgetting Sarah Marshall and St Trinians and he has recently completed filming Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler.
His autobiography My Booky Wook topped the UK best-seller list, selling more than 600,000 hardback copies.
But he recently caused outrage in America when he hosted the MTV Awards. He was forced to apologise for a series of bad taste gags aimed at President George Bush.
* Tickets for his Birmingham show, priced £24.50 plus fees, go on sale at 10am tomorrow from www.theticket factory.com and 0844 33 88 000.
