Net closing on coin throwing thug
THE net was closing today on the coin throwing thug who tarnished the proud name of Aston Villa and sparked a united response from players and managers alike.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill today vowed to hit the “moron” to blame for the atrocious touchline scene with a life ban.
Linesman Phil Sharp was hit on the forehead with a 50p coin thrown by a home fan, possibly at visiting Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp. O’Neill joined Redknapp in condemning the thug: “I don’t like getting abuse from away fans or home fans, none of us do. But that was nasty, really nasty. We need to do something about it.’’
Club skipper Martin Laursen said: “You can’t blame the entire club or the Aston Villa fans, not for one idiot.”
