INVESTIGATIONS were continuing today into a crash involving six vehicles at Halesowen which left three young people injured and one fighting for life.
The accident, which saw a car waiting at traffic lights shunted forward by a van into other vehicles, happened in Hurst Green Road just before 8pm on Friday.
Firefighters aided by paramedics battled for more than an hour in freezing temperatures to release two injured men and a woman from the car – a red Ford Escort.
An ambulance service spokesman said a man on the back seat suffered severe pelvic and leg fractures and head and internal injuries, while the other two people had only minor injuries.
“One of the doctors travelled with the most seriously injured patient as he was taken to the trauma centre on blue lights at Selly Oak Hospital,” he said.
“The ambulance was given a police escort due to the severity of the injuries.
“On arrival the patient was described as having potentially life threatening injuries,” he added.
Anyone with information relating to the incident should contact Halesowen police station on 0845 113 5000.
