PATIENTS at a Birmingham eye clinic did a double take when British Olympic legend, Jonathan Edwards CBE, dropped in.
The world record-holder and gold medallist visited the laser eye treatment clinic on Highfield Road, in Edgbaston, to launch ‘Star Vision’, a campaign rewarding volunteers in the community with the gift of better sight. Anyone across the city can nominate someone they know to receive up to £3,900 worth of treatment at the clinic. He said: “On a personal level, I’m delighted to be supporting this community initiative in Birmingham, as so many professional sportsmen and women owe a huge debt of gratitude to grass roots coaches, teachers and local volunteers. ”
