GREEN-FINGERED kids have scooped £400 to turn their dreams into a reality.
Children at Daylesford Infant School, in Lyndon Road, Solihull, have been learning about reducing waste, recycling resources and saving energy.
Now youngsters in the school’s Environmental and Eco Club will have the cash to plant new vegetable patches in the school grounds thanks to a donation by Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG).
Headteacher Sue Nolan said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the donation and we hope to put it to very good use.
“Suggestions have already been made by the children as to what it could be used for.
“One of the most popular suggestions was to create a vegetable garden to be used by children in our after school cookery club.
“We will also spend some of the money on developing and maintaining our environmental area which has proved so popular.”
Hundreds of PPDG employees contributed to the scheme through the Give As You Earn scheme which takes sums direct from their salaries.
The Eco Club was nominated to receive the funds by employees at the office in Yardley and Andrea Faulkner from the office said: “This club teaches children valuable lessons for the future through maintaining an on-site environmental garden and funding trips.”
