Footballer airlifted to hospital

A FOOTBALLER was airlifted to hospital after suffering a head injury during a match.

The 19-year-old, who had been playing on a pitch near Worcester Racecourse at 11am yesterday, was treated by a paramedic and a doctor in a rapid response vehicle.

He was taken by helicopter to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A paramedic gave treatment to a 19-year-old man who was semi-conscious having suffered a head injury during a game of football.”
