Woman trampled by a horse on M54

A WOMAN was badly injured after she was trampled by a horse.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton after she was found by paramedics battered and bruised inside a horse carriage parked in a lay-by between junctions one and two on the west bound carriageway of the M54 shortly after 10.20am yesterday.

She sustained head and chest injuries, a suspected broken jaw and several broken ribs after the horse appeared to trample on her.

No one else was injured.
