Last-minute gym work for runners

FESTIVE fitness fans hit the treadmills for last-minute training ahead of a charity run this weekend.

Staff from the Village Hotel in Walsall are set to join runners from across the region at a fun run in the town for Acorns Children’s Hospice on Sunday.

Santas on the Run will see hundreds of fund raisers donning for just over a mile to raise up to £70,000. Acorns, which cares for 50 life-limited children in the Walsall area, is trying to raise £1million before Christmas so it can begin piloting its new hospice at home service in the new year.

It is hoped the service will help the hospice increase the number of life-limited children and families who benefit from care and support services by up to 300 families. Acorns events manager Kerrie Davies said: “Santas on the Run is a great event for friends, family and colleagues and groups to don a Santa suit and help a hospice.”
