Birmingham pervert with huge child porn library faces jail

A PERVERT who collected the biggest library of child porn ever seized by a Midland police force is facing jail.

When police raided Lee Purser’s home they found six computer hard drives filled with 331,755 appalling images and film clips – some of them featuring children as young as 18 months old. The 29-year-old loner is awaiting sentence after he admitted building the vile collection from his bedroom.

He shared them with paedophiles across the globe through file swapping websites which child protection agencies say are helping sex fiends keep ahead of police.

But the law caught up with the warehouse worker when police raided his semi-detached home in May 2007 after a tip-off.

“It seems that when Purser wasn’t at work or asleep, he was at the computer amassing this collection,” said Det Con Imran Ghouri, of Warwickshire Police. “These pictures really were the worst imaginable and the task of going through them was stomach churning and quite upsetting.

“It’s the biggest haul of indecent images ever seized by the force by quite some distance.

“Purser viewed this very much as a hobby and it became an uncontrollable obsession.”

Purser, who lives with his mother in St Judes Avenue, Studley, will be sentenced next year at Warwick Crown Court where he admitted 20 counts of possessing indecent images recently.

He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and banned from having contact with anybody under the age of 16 or accessing an internet account.

There is no suggestion that Purser was directly involved in child abuse and police were unable to establish whether he swapped clips and pictures through a network.
