POLICE are holding a Dutch man on suspicion of dangerous driving after the crash which closed the M6 in the West Midlands yesterday.
At least seven people were injured in the pile-up which involved four lorries and light good vehicles, a van and a car between junctions seven and eight near Great Barr.
The northbound side reopened in mid-afternoon and the southbound carriageway reopened last night. A lorry driver from Holland was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. A male driver in his 40s from Preston, was taken to Selly Oak Hospital by police helicopter.
Thousands of drivers endured hours of queues and diversions after the crash, which happened just before 6am. Two northbound lorries crashed, sending one spinning across the central reservation before it overturned and was hit by traffic coming south.
