Blunders galore on road diversion signs in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM’S roads boss has been offered a new copy of the A to Z after a series of glaring spelling errors on street signs.

The two signs, detailing road diversions in Lozells and Newtown, contain a total of seven spelling errors and two inaccuracies.

It comes after council officials were left red-faced over incorrectly spelling of St Philip’s Cathedral on several road signs which added an extra L.

The latest incorrect signs referred to Lozzells Road, Wheelers Street twice, Gerrar Road, Great Kings Street North, and Portcester Road.

The correct spellings are Lozells Road, Wheeler Street, Gerrard Street, Great King Street North and Porchester Road.

Now an opposition councillor has offered Tory roads chief Len Gregory the A to Z street map of Birmingham so his staff can check before designing new signs.
