Former boxer Frank Bruno helps Handsworth youngsters become healthier

FORMER heavyweight world boxing champion Frank Bruno proved he was still a knock-out when he visited a leisure centre in Handsworth.

The much-loved boxer was promoting a new scheme aimed at encouraging people to eat better and move more.

Heart of Birmingham PCT has combined forces with Birmingham City Council to provide anyone living in the Handsworth area with free gym and swimming sessions.

After taking part in a fun fitness session with youngsters he said he was more than happy to support the scheme. He said: “With all the problems of obesity and other weight-related diseases there are at the moment health and fitness is one of the most important things in life. It provides a nice balance. It keeps the weight down and it makes you feel good.”
