Manhunt after postmaster's son killed in Bromsgrove post office robbery

Villagers told of their shock, describing the Hudson-Walkers, who moved to the area from Gloucestershire five years ago after running a similar store in the Forest of Dean for 17 years, as a “warm, friendly and hard working” family. It is believed Craig was engaged and due to marry this year.

Bernard Edwards, 62, of Stourbridge Road, said: “It’s awful that somebody who is just going about their everyday business and trying to earn a living can be attacked like this.”

Andrea Ankers, 39, of Brook Road, said: “They were at the heart of the community and it has been ripped out.”

BBC Five Live sports reporter Pat Murphy, 61, a resident of the village, added: “This is completely unprecedented – we’re used to hearing the sound of bird song around here, not gunshots.”

A Post Office spokesman said the firm was “shocked and appalled” and doing all it could to help Ken and Judy, who are thought to have a second son James, a plumber.
