Bromsgrove post office shooting: Eight arrested

Police forensic officers continue their investigation at Fairfield post office after Craig Hodson-Walker was shot dead during an armed robbery.

MURDER squad detectives hunting the killers of Midland postmaster’s son Craig Hodson-Walker today arrested five men and three women in swoops across Birmingham.

Four men were held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The others were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They were held in dawn swoops on six addresses across Birmingham, including the Sheldon area.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: “Those arrested are currently being held at police stations across the West Mercia and West Midlands force areas.

“Police would like to express their thanks to the public and the media for their information and cooperation so far during this continuing operation.

“We would also stress the investigation is still in its early stages and continue to appeal for anyone with information to call police.”

Mr Hodson-Walker, aged 29, was blasted in the chest as he and his father Ken, aged 56, put up a fight with the ruthless gang at the rural shop in the village of Fairfield, near Bromsgrove, on Friday morning.

A huge manhunt for the raiders has since focussed on the movements of a silver Volkswagen Golf which was stolen from Solihull on New Year’s Eve and later dumped near the scene.
