Teenager killed by car in Birmingham was X Factor contestant
Grant’s family said he was a keen footballer and a Manchester United fan. He was interested in computing and was studying IT at South Birmingham College with a view to going on to university next year.
Family members also said he was keen on gymnastics, dance and amateur dramatics.
He appeared in one of the early rounds of X Factor last year with friend David Dimmick.
His stepfather, Tom Clements, said the teenager was also looking forward to taking his driving theory test next week.
“He was as nice a lad as you could hope to meet. He was never in any trouble, he was always the life and soul of the party.”
It isn’t the first time tragedy has struck the family. When Grant was only five, his sister Stefanie died of a brain tumour.
Grant’s natural father Joe, who lives in nearby Kitts Green, said: “He was so naturally fun. Everyone always looked to him when they needed cheering up.”
