Cops are hunting the cheeky prankster who tore down the 50 mph signs on the B5000 near Polesworth, Warwickshire, and replaced them with second-hand national speed limit signs.
Warwickshire County Council confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. A spokesman added that the correct 50 mph signs were set to be re-installed along the particular stretch of road shortly and would cost £5,000.
