Police silence Erdington "neighbour from hell"

POLICE have helped silence a noisy ‘neighbour from hell’ – by seizing his stereo equipment.

Cops joined environmental health officers to execute a warrant at a terraced house that had been booming out a daily dose of ear-splitting rap music.

They pulled the plug on the noisy neighbour by seizing his stereo equipment and every music CD in his home on the Lyndhurst estate in Erdington, Birmingham.

Sergeant Gareth Mason, of West Midlands Police, said officers decided to take action after a string of complaints from neighbours fed up with a daily torment of music from the house.

They helped compile a dossier of daily problems, which were also monitored by sound measuring equipment, in order to secure a warrant to allow confiscation of the stereo.

Sgt Morgan, who had heard the noise at first hand, said: “Residents had complained about persistent music, sort of heavy bass rap music, throughout the day for long periods of time.

“You could hear the thumping through the walls. It was at unreasonable levels that would cause you to speak more loudly or turn the television up.

“It caused a lot of stress. Nobody should have to put up with that.

“If it is anti-social and has a detrimental effect on people’s lives, it needs to be stopped.”
