Heavy snow and strong winds to hit West Midlands

Birmingham City Council, which has already received help from the Highways Agency, said it is waiting for a delivery of 3,000 tonnes over the next few days.

The authority said unlike many councils it has not had to restrict gritting to certain roads.

A spokesman said: “We are waiting for more supplies. At the moment we have enough to grit the whole network and have not had to prioritise routes. This may change if supplies do not come through.”
