Fury after Domino’s launch halal menu at Hall Green branch
A NATIONAL pizza takeaway chain has chosen one of its stores in Birmingham to become its first halal-only shop in the UK – leaving some customers fuming.
Domino’s, with stores across the UK, has opted to use its shop in Hall Green as its first premises to launch a menu serving only Halal meat, and no pork.
The decision means people hoping to tuck into classic pizzas like an Hawaiian with ham and pineapple will have to travel more than two miles to the next Domino’s branch in Shirley – something which has angered some customers who claim they are being discriminated against.
Chris Yates, aged 29, of Moseley, said he was told he couldn’t have a ‘Meteor’ pizza, topped with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, ground beef and smoky bacon, when he telephoned to order.
“It’s a disgrace, I can appreciate them having it as an option but to have it completely halal is just not on,” he said.
