Man stabbed to death in alleged raid on lorry named

A MAN stabbed to death during an alleged raid on a lorry at a Midland industrial estate has been named as Dean Skidmore.

A post-mortem showed Mr Skidmore, 34, of Brierley Hill, died from severe loss of blood sustained from a stab injury as he and two others allegedly tried to hijack a lorry parked on the Station Road Industrial Estate in Coleshill. The others, a 15-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man, were seriously injured in the incident at about 6am on Thursday but were expected to be released from Sandwell Hospital today.

A 41-year-old man, believed to be foreign, has been arrested by Warwickshire Police on suspicion of murder and will remain on police bail until April.

The trucker called Warwickshire Police at about 6.20am claiming he had used a knife to defend himself from attackers who had attempted to raid his curtain-sided lorry. The lorry driver was not seriously injured.

Five minutes later the ambulance service received a call from junction 7 of the northbound M6 at Great Barr - about ten miles away - reporting three people with stab wounds racing to hospital.The men, all bleeding heavily, arrived a short time later at Sandwell Hospital in a Subaru Impreza.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian McGee, of Warwickshire Police, said: “We are still gathering information in order to establish what has happened. We are appealing to anyone who has any information from any of the locations.”
