AN auction of the winning Tour de France 2008 yellow jersey will reap rewards for Walsall’s deaf children.
The genuine shirt worn by 2008 Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre will be sold on eBay next month, with all proceeds going directly to a multi-sports day that the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) will be running for deaf children and young people aged eight to 16 in Walsall on October 10.
The auction comes as a result of a partnership between NDCS and Wiggle, the online cycling shop. Carlos Sastre, who donated the yellow jersey to NDCS, said: “I am very proud to help the National Deaf Children’s Society to raise awareness of the obstacles that deaf children face at school and in their everyday life. Every deaf child has the right to be fully included and valued by society.”
