Biker dies after hitting tree near Stone town centre

A MOTORCYCLIST died this morning after hitting a roadside tree at high speed.

The biker was travelling along the A51 Lichfield Road, near to the town centre of Stone in Staffordshire, when the accident happened at about 1.20am.

Paramedics made attempts to resuscitate the rider at the scene before taking him by ambulance to University Hospital North Staffordshire where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
