Celebrities follow in Birmingham fire fighters' footsteps with mountain challenge

Firefighters Lee Rowley and Martin Shields at the top of Kilimanjaro

CHRIS Moyles, Cheryl Cole and Alesha Dixon will be following in the footsteps of a pair of Birmingham fire fighters as they tackle the mighty Kilimanjaro.

The celebrities are making great progress with their trek up Africa’s highest mountain to raise funds for Comic Relief.

Last month fire fighters Lee Rowley and Martin Sheilds, from the fire and rescue team at Birmingham International Airport, conqueored Kili – and raised £2,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Just like the celebrities, the adventurous duo battled mountain sickness and were barely able to walk as they scaled the peak in Tanzania.

But they beat their seven day target to reach the top by arriving a daily early.
