Soldier Mark Quinsey murder: Floral tributes grow as Antrim mourns

Brig Norton added his own thoughts.

"They were magnificent individuals and we mourn their loss."

Edna Milliken, from nearby Crumlin, left a bouquet for each of the dead soldiers.

"I thought we had left all those pointless days behind us," she said, tears welling in her eyes.

"I just feel so sorry for those poor boys' mothers."

She was only one of many who crossed the busy Randalstown Road to leave flowers at the gate.

And while they all walked from the same car park the gunmen had skulked in on Saturday night, the content of their hearts could not have been more different.
