WAR hero Matt Croucher today endorsed the Birmingham Mail’s Badge of Honour campaign.

George Cross winner Lance Corporal Croucher, from Solihull, who threw himself on top of a grenade to save his patrol, said: “When a soldier is in a war zone the last thing going his head are thoughts about winning medals.

“But when it comes down to it, knowing that people at home are behind us will mean a lot to them to be recognised for their efforts.”
