A SECONDARY school in Birmingham is being investigated over alleged financial irregularities, it was revealed today.
Stockland Green Technology College in Slade Road, Erdington, is being probed by city council auditors.
It is believed the investigation has been launched because large sums of money in its budget allegedly cannot be accounted for.
The school, which is under pressure from the Government to improve its GCSE exam results in English and maths, is already facing the possible loss of headteacher Andy Arnott.
He was unavailable for comment today.
A spokesman for Birmingham City Council said: “The school is currently under investigation.
“We cannot comment further while this investigation is ongoing,” he added.
A source close to Stockland Green Technology College said that a “full audit” was under way.
The source claimed: “A number of staff from Stockland Green have gone to the local authority over allegations of financial irregularity.”
