SPLAT! Hundreds of Birmingham students turned out for custard pie chaos in a bid to break a world record.
More than 200 University of Birmingham students braved the mess in an attempt to smash the record for the world’s largest custard pie fight.
The group gathered in a marquee outside the tennis courts halls of residence in Edgbaston to fling 1,250 custard pies made by Warwickshire-based pie specialists 19 Gales. The pies ran out within minutes and organisers hope the splatterthon will raise more than £1,000 for Comic Relief.
The students now face an anxious wait to see if they have broken the world record, which stands at 120 people.
