Comic Relief: Diane Parkes dances for Comic Relief

Diane Parkes

MAIL reporter Diane Parkes joined a class at Elmhurst School for Dance in Edgbaston as part of the fundraising fun.

Led by Elmhurst artistic director Desmond Kelly, Diane’s group was watched by nearly 200 pupils who had paid a minimum of £2 for the privilege - all the £500 proceeds going to Comic Relief. Diane said: “I thought I was doing quite well with my high kicks and turns until Desmond ordered us each to perform a running jump. I prepared for complete humiliation. I threw caution to the wind and launched myself into midair.

“I am not sure Birmingham Royal Ballet will be signing me up for Swan Lake just yet but at least I didn’t end up landing ceremoniously on my backside.”
