Death hoaxer Aston Villa fan is spared jail by judge

“We are delighted that Aaron Davie has been brought to justice and we are satisfied with the sentence imposed.

“Mr Davie claims in mitigation that he was too drunk to remember the incident. However, he was perfectly lucid when he coldly called me to tell me that my son had just been killed.”

District Judge Shamim Qureshi also imposed a curfew for three months, from 7pm to 7am, and 120 hours of unpaid work in the community.

Davie was also ordered to pay £500 compensation and £87 costs.
