Revealed: Birmingham past of black cab rapist John Worboys

SERIAL sex attacker John Worboys used his former job as a sleazy £125-a-night male stripper in the West Midlands to satisfy his depraved urges.

The black cab rapist – one of Britain’s worst ever sex offenders – performed regularly at gay clubs and hen nights in Birmingham and Warwickshire.

He used his barely-legal stage routine as cover to bed women while working for a now defunct agency called Traders in the 1990s.

Fellow stripper Dave Hanson worked Midland shows with the monster – whose stage name was ‘Terry the Minder’ – including one near Leamington Spa in 1997.

Dave, 41, recalled: “Terry had been around in the West Midlands way before I got there in 1997. When I first saw him in the changing rooms I thought he looked a little past it, to be honest.

‘‘I asked him how old he was and he said mid-30s. I couldn’t believe it, he looked about 45. But he was always looking out of the changing room door, saying which girls he wanted to pull later.

Sex-crazed

‘‘Then he would get the girl up on stage, get her phone number and take her to his car at the end of the night.

“There was one show where he took a woman out the back during the interval. He came out ten minutes later with a rather big smile on his face.”

Sex-crazed Worboys, now 51, was well-known on the West Midlands male strip circuit.

He would perform a Full Monty routine after walking out to the Minder theme tune and would encourage women to rub oil all over his body.

Dave added: “He was what we called a baby oil stripper, who used to get the girls to touch him as much as possible.

‘‘What he was doing was nothing short of legalised rape, he was lucky to get away with it sometimes.

‘‘Sex was like a drug to him. He was a proper womaniser. He boasted about going to venues and having sex with women in alleyways and fire exits and going round to their house while their old man was at work.

“He knew he had the perfect job to pull women.”

Scheming Worboys used handcuffs for his act at hen nights and gay clubs. During intervals he posed for snaps with women before giving them a signed black-and-white photo with his mobile number on.

If they called he would add them into a black book of sex contacts, similar to the one he kept details of his cab victims in.

Dave said: “He was known as a hands-on man because he went further than anyone else.
