Record numbers turn out for St Patrick's Day parade
Coun Ray Hassall, cabinet member for Leisure, Sport and Culture said: “It’s wonderful to see our communities pulling together to support this fantastic event and to celebrate our city’s Irish heritage.”
St Patrick’s Festival Committee Chair Karen Barry said: “We are thrilled with the turnout this year, and we applaud the fantastic effort from everyone who has worked to make the day such a success.”
Music, laughter, dancing and plenty of drink were the order of the day on Saturday, as Sandwell staged its St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The Queen’s Square, in West Bromwich, event drew crowds of people from across the region, all eager to tip their Leprechaun hats in honour of St Patrick at the non-stop, six-hour party, held in the presence of local Mayor Coun Robert Price and other dignitaries.
