Murder probe after man found dead in Alum Rock

The property, a terraced home sub-divided into a number of flats, was taped off by police along with most of Ellesmere Road following the discovery.

Searches by forensics specialists and house to house inquiries were continuing.

The leader of residents’ organisation, the Saltley Gate Peace Group, said neighbours had been told the incident was believed to have happened sometime between 6pm on Saturday and 12 noon yesterday, but police would not confirm this.

Group chair Adam Yosef, said that after police sealed off the road, some residents were unable to get back into their homes for several hours.

But he appealed for everyone in the community to be patient to assist police.
