Shooting death: Nehemiah's Bryce's mum hits out at 'friends'

Nehemiah Bryce

THE family of a man shot dead in Birmingham today criticised his friends for deserting them in their quest to find his killers.

Nehemiah Bryce, aged 27, was gunned down in an alleyway after being targeted as he parked his car in New Croft, in Newtown, exactly 12 months ago.

His close-knit family revealed the gaping hole his death had left in their lives and their wish to see the gunmen brought to justice.

His mother, Diane Johnson, 48, said: “His killers are out there enjoying everyday life but we can’t enjoy our lives.

“There are friends out there who know what’s gone on. Well, they call themselves friends. I would say he hasn’t got any. If they can’t be man enough to step forward, they can’t call themselves a friend.

“Not one of them has come to me to let me know who did it or why. This is what I find so hard to take. They’ve let me down.”

His sister Lauren, aged 25, added: “I don’t understand why people are not helping. They say it’s not going to bring Nehemiah back, but it might help get justice for him.”

The former Aston Manor school pupil, who dreamed of being a graphic designer, was parking his Seat Ibiza when his killers struck in what police believe was a pre-planned attack.

A number of shots were fired at his car and Nehemiah tried to flee, ramming the killer’s car blocking his path and causing it significant damage. He them ran into an alleyway but was repeatedly shot with a pistol.
