Aston University in electric car trial

ASTON University and North Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust are taking part in an electric car trial aimed at cutting carbon emissions.

The university is one of 60 organisations across the country to have taken delivery of a two-seater car, which will be officially launched next year.

The vehicle can be plugged into any UK mains three pin socket, emits zero pollution, travels 70 miles on a single charge and has a top speed of 60mph.

Vice chancellor Prof Julia King said: “I believe electric vehicles are a fantastic opportunity to reduce noise and pollution.”
