Drinkers' terror as Birmingham pub attacked by Aston Villa yobs

POLICE are investigating an attack on a Birmingham pub allegedly carried out by Aston Villa fans.

West Midlands Police confirmed officers were probing an incident at The Woodman in Albert Street, Digbeth, where windows were smashed on Sunday night.

The attack happened hours after Villa played Tottenham at Villa Park.

The pub is popular with Birmingham City fans and is normally packed with Blues supporters on matchdays.

But landlady Audrey Day said the venue was quiet on the night with only a few families inside who had been celebrating St Patrick’s Day.

She said the culprits chanted Villa songs as they went on the rampage.

“It happened on Sunday night after the game,” she said.

“It had died down a bit in here, there were just a few families left in the bar.
