Police chase quad bike rider injured in Perry Barr

A MAN was critically ill today after crashing a quad bike as he was fleeing police.

It happened on the A34 Walsall Road in Perry Barr.

Police said the 21-year-old, who has not yet been named, was one of a group of people who failed to stop when approached by officers on Wednesday night.

Police lost sight of the quad bikers during a chase, but later came across the man lying injured next to his bike opposite Cliveden Avenue.

Today he remained in a “critical but stable” condition in hospital.

The incident is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
