Plane daft - paper aeroplane competition at University of Birmingham

James Coldrey-Mobbs won the distance event with a throw of 30 metres, Ray Murphy achieved a flight time of 6.2 seconds, and Josh Holmes won the aerobatics with a score of 23 out of 30.

Barney Collins, Red Bull student brand manager, said: “With three successful years already under its belt, the ‘world championships of paper plane flying’ promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

“The goal is to fly, not to land.”

The contest was judged by a panel of students which included Jessica Goodchild, choreographer of the university’s Pussycats cheerleading team.
