Google Street View: Take a tour of Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM has gone virtual with the launch of Google Street View, and Birminghammail.net has taken a look around the city to show you some of the sights.

DEPENDING on your point of view, it's either a great tool for getting around the city or a massive breach of your privacy.

Google Street View contains millions of images taken on the streets of Birmingham, but not every street is covered

The firm drove around the region last year cataloguing the images, and you can now stroll across Spaghetti Junction without fear of being injured, or simply take a virtual walk past some of Birmingham's best known landmarks.

Only streets on which cars are allowed to drive are covered, so a virtual tour along New Street is out, while views of the Bullring are also restricted.

And many streets outside of the city centre are still to be snapped - leaving landmarks such as Villa Park uncaptured so far.
