The Apprentice back on television screens
A NEW series of BBC reality show The Apprentice hits our television screens tonight with added interest for Midlands viewers.
The series, headed by multi-millionaire businessman Sir Alan Sugar, who flew in to Birmingham by helicopter last week, boasts no fewer than five contestants among the 15 would-be apprentices bidding for a £100,000-a-year job with his companies.
Millions of viewers will be tuning in each week as the fifth series of The Apprentice, dubbed “the ultimate job interview from hell”, gets under way.
But what makes good leadership skills? We asked people in Birmingham city centre.
Train driver manager Christopher Ball is one of many looking forward to the new series. The 49-year-old, from Worcester, said: “I love it and am looking forward to seeing people trying to talk a good game.
“But the main things that make good leadership are consistent decisions, fairness and, of course, hard work.”
A fellow fan of the show is Nafisa Rafiq, 20, who works as a tax officer in Leicester. She said: “Being able to give commands and seeing the qualities in other people are the best leadership skills for me. I enjoy The Apprentice quite a lot, but I’m not really a business person so I get quite bored.”
