Tip-off leads to arrest of Birmingham robbery suspect

A SUSPECT wanted by police over a robbery in Birmingham was arrested by police after a tip-off from a member of the public.

The Birmingham Mail featured a photograph of fugitive Shaun Higgins on Monday after police took the unusual step of releasing his name in a bid to trace him.

They said the 33-year-old was wanted for questioning over a robbery in Erdington on March 9 in which a woman was assaulted and seriously injured.

Following the appeal, police received a tip-off that he was living in a house in Yardley.

Officers went to the property yesterday lunchtime and arrested Higgins following a short chase.

He was later being treated in hospital for a foot injury.
