Fordrough pub murder: Police try to trace drinkers

POLICE investigating the murder of “peacemaker” Tracy McConnell outside a Birmingham pub were today continuing efforts to trace drinkers who were there that night.

Mr McConnell was acting as a peacemaker as between 15 and 20 people traded blows during a violent clash which erupted outside the pub, in Fordrough, at 11.30pm.

The 46-year-old carpenter, who leaves two young daughters aged four and eight, and a wife, Sharon, is believed to have hit his head after being knocked to the ground and died in hospital on Saturday. A total of nine people have been arrested by detectives in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Officers have faced a reluctance from potential witnesses to come forward, forcing officers to trace them individually.
