LDV investment suitors seek talks with Government

LDV

HOPES of a rescue for Birmingham van-maker LDV soared today as the mystery investors who could save the factory from collapse sought talks with the Government.

A potential lifeline for LDV and thousands of jobs emerged as the firm – widely thought to be Indian group Mahindra and Mahindra – called for discussions with the Government over the future of the Washwood Heath plant.

The van-maker revealed progress was finally being made towards a “solution in the best interests of everyone.”

LDV spokesman, Guy Jones, said: “Plans with the potential investor for LDV have progressed and they have requested a meeting with the Government as soon as possible next week to try to finalise a solution to secure the future of LDV in the UK. The management team wants to again thank employees, suppliers, dealers and business partners for their continued support at this difficult time. This is enabling the business to progress towards a solution that is in the best interests of everyone.”
