Dad in carjack terror at Star City

A DAD pleaded with carjackers to let his terrified daughter out of his car after the gang ambushed them in Birmingham.
Enda Mullen had tried unsuccessfully to fight the hooded gang off after they struck shortly after he left the Star City entertainment complex.
Mr Mullen, aged 45, who feared he would be stabbed, told them: “You can have the car, just let my daughter out.”
He then managed to grab the six-year-old girl before the gang sped off with the £30,000 hot-hatch Mitsubishi Evolution X he had been driving.
Motoring journalist Mr Mullen and his daughter were left at the roadside in Mainstream Way, Saltley, as the car, a favourite with boy racers, was driven off at speed at 5.10pm on Saturday.
It was found 30 minutes later in Handsworth after a Tracker locator device was activated.
Today, Mr Mullen re-lived his ordeal, which happened after he had picked his daughter up from a party in the vehicle which he was borrowed from the manufacturers and was road-testing.
He said he was shunted from behind, but when he stopped to check the damage and exchange insurance details he was jumped by one of the carjackers.
The pair scuffled as his terrified daughter watched from inside the vehicle.
Mr Mullen said “My over-riding fear was of them driving off with my daughter in the car. All I could think about was my daughter so I started shouting at him to let me get her out.
“It stopped him in his tracks. I thought I had chance to get away. The car door was open and the engine was running so I jumped in.
“The guy started kicking the panel of the door and managed to get it open and I thought that this was where I was going to get my kicking or stabbing.
“I shouted ‘You can have the car, just let me get my daughter out.’”
