Fire at Smethwick flat
FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a man from a second storey flat in Smethwick after a fire broke out in the kitchen today.
Crews were called to the house in Bournville Road just before 1am where they found a man suffering from smoke inhalation. He was taken to hospital while firefighters in breathing gear put out the blaze.
